This Bearded Fire Worm was found on Dominica. It is only a few inches long, but its name comes from a very painful burning sensation that occurs when touched. This digital photo was converted to black and white after being shot.

This reclusive Blenny was hiding in a cave inside his favorite piece of coral on Dominica. They are very skittish and must be approached very slowly to photograph.

This burrfish was found on a night dive in Dominica, the spines behind him are actually pieces of soft coral.

This cleaner shrimp was waiting for a fish to come by so it could make a meal out of any parasites that were living on it. This particular one was about an inch long, and was found in dominica.

We arrived at the Dive site , Cortez Beach., at 9am. The excitement was high as we entered the water. The first thing we enjoyed in the salt water were a pair of manatees in the gulf. So beautiful was the water we expected perfect visibility but only had 12 feet. Still the fish had no trouble finding us with our frozen shrimp. Feeding the small grouper and wrasses is a great way to keep your hands from scalloping the water and throwing off your buoyancy. By the end of the second dive I was proud to say that the class had not only enjoyed themselves but had learned how to protect the fragile underwater world and enjoy the marine life.
